I finally understand what my mom means by certain foods make you hot and cold.

While reading some books I have found on the Asian belief that certain foods affect your temperature in the body to be true.  Such as bread makes you more hot while most vegetables make you cooler.  This is true in the western concept of acidity and alkaline as those foods make you more acidic or alkaline from the book Clean by Dr. Alejandro Junger.  Since the pH is the body can be affected by foods, buffers are in place to try to balance this out.  It is better to eat more alkaline/cooling foods to keep one’s body in homeostasis and to continue functionality within the body.  In my experience more acidic/heating foods causes me to breakout while the alkaline/cooling foods calms those breakouts and acne.
